THERAPY THAT GOES BEYOND THE SURFACE
A PSYCHOANALYTIC psychotherapy practice Serving maryland, New York & New Jersey
“Specializing in Eating Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, Relational Trauma & Personality Patterns.”
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?
This is your process—you decide the direction.
As a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I believe the work of therapy belongs to you. You set the direction of our work: what you want to explore and where you want to go. I may ask questions, and offer observations or interpretations, but this is your treatment. No one is "too sick," or "not sick enough" to give therapy a shot.
What This Actually Looks Like
I work with individuals to find the courage and strength to explore what's beneath the surface.
Disorders or symptoms are the surface-level "stuff" that therapists see all the time. It's my job to ask the really good questions to go deeper, to build curiosity within you. Together, we'll build a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to explore and wonder about yourself.
Through mutual curiosity, exploration, and deep understanding, we'll work to figure out how the patterns of your thoughts and feelings about yourself came to be, and what can be shifted to create long-lasting growth and change in your present life.
It's Okay If It Gets Messy
I believe you have the ability to strip away the emotional clutter that consumes your mind.
Instead of just bandaging a wound without cleaning it up, we will take the time needed to really look at what caused the injury and ongoing pain — internal or emotional.
Together, we'll get into the "messiness" of your life. When we take the time to look inside, at a deeper, more authentic level, things may start to feel real, weird, and sometimes scary — but I'll be with you along the way.
I promise the world will not end and you will be okay. Actually, I believe this type of work creates more stability and groundedness, leading to lasting growth and change.
THE MOST INDIVIDUALIZED FORM OF TREATMENT
Being in a psychoanalytic process is different from following a prescribed course of treatment.
There is no predetermined path, because the process is built around the individual, around you. I believe this is what makes psychoanalytic psychotherapy one of the most individualized forms of treatment: the work takes shape through who YOU are, what YOU bring into the room, and what emerges between us over time.
This isn't simply about finding solutions. It's about entering a process of understanding yourself more deeply and allowing that understanding to create real freedom and choice in how you want to live your life now and in the future.
Hi, I’m Pamela.
I'm a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, currently an advanced candidate at the Contemporary Freudian Society, training within both its NYC and Washington, DC divisions. I work with adults navigating eating disorders, personality patterns, anxiety, depression, and relational trauma — helping them look beneath the symptom to what's actually driving it.
